In partnership with the Ranao Rescue Team and the Barangay Local Government Unit, 475 of these food packs containing 5kls of rice, 1.2kl of dressed chicken and 1 dozen eggs were distributed to home-based IDPs in Brgy. Santiago, Iligan City last June 20.
Balay Mindanaw has lent another unit of Skyhydrant to be used by the National Incident Management Team (NIMT) to continue providing potable water to the Evacuation Centers. Our team from Balay Mindanaw also supported the NIMT in personally doing the rationing of the water in 5 Evacuation Centers in Balo-i, Lanao del Norte during the weekend.
During the cluster meetings in the Regional Command and Coordination Center (RCCC) for the Marawi crisis situation, it was expressed that the evacuation centers in Iligan city as well as those in Lanao del Sur areas are in dire need of clean water. Unsafe drinking water has been one of the recurring issues under the WASH cluster (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) as of late. The distribution of bottled water was not also encouraged as it is not environmentally friendly and would add to the increasing volume of garbage.
