Peace Stalk! My Random Thoughts

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Small is Superior
Small, simple, solid, strategic, sustainable…

Everytime I introduce Balay Mindanaw, I would always say: It is a small NGO. I usually would get reactions of disbelief and unconvinced smile or laughter. But I am really serious about it. BM is indeed small… And hopefully, successful.

———

We break traditions
Instead of the conventional management principle of making yourself indispensable, our key indicator of success is when others can already do it themselves. St. John always reminds us: I must decrease.

———

Ideas and initiatives are like babies.
This is why some people call them “brainchild”.
And like children, they grow up, and eventually have lives of their own.
We are happy seeing our babies take their first tentative steps, and we are happiest when they eventually learn to walk and run. And then, we either are happy or sad depending on where they eventually go when they walk or run away.

——–

When we began this journey twenty years ago, some of the people from whom we expected much said NO to us. They did not give us the slightest chance to succeed, leaving us with no choice but to prove them wrong…

——

A true leader must be prepared to be the least, lowest, last, and lonely, but most of all, liberating.

——

And here is Johann Galtung on Pope Francis:

“A humanity struggling for peace can be grateful to a Pope reminding us of direct peace through solidarity, of structural peace through development, and of the spiritual quality of peace, cultural peace. Take the spiritual dedication to something beyond ourselves away from human beings and we get human machines with technical know-how and exchange dominated by pragmatism and selfishness.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1456147394755{padding-top: 3px !important;padding-right: 3px !important;padding-bottom: 3px !important;padding-left: 3px !important;background-color: #d1d1d1 !important;}”]

Peace Stalk!

by Kaloy Manlupig

I have finally decided to open this space to share with you my thoughts, some mundane, some trivial and hopefully some profound.

I have been getting some words of encouragement to pursue writing and sharing my thoughts but I have always hesitated. I am actually more comfortable just keeping my written thoughts in my phone or tablet. Sometimes they find their way to my fb posts.

While I may have some flashes of writing brilliance (ehem), I also know that I often suffer from what others call writer’s block – and what I call plain laziness.

Seriously now, what made me decide to do this?

I realized that there is big probability of waking up one day, and there would not be any chance to say the things I wanted to say. Say it now.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Great Job Kaloy and BM! I have known you personally and i believe you will make through. As Rotary International said many years ago “Believe in what you do and Do what you believe in”. Continue to be a blessing for others!
