Updates as of June 11, 2017<\/p>\n

I. EMERGENCY REPONSE<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the cluster meetings in the Regional Command and Coordination Center (RCCC) for the Marawi crisis situation, it was expressed that the evacuation centers in Iligan city as well as those in Lanao del Sur areas are in dire need of clean water. Unsafe drinking water has been one of the recurring issues under the WASH cluster (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) as of late. The distribution of bottled water was not also encouraged as it is not environmentally friendly and would add to the increasing volume of garbage.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Because of this, Balay Mindanaw extended its assistance to the National Incident Management Team (NIMT), headed by Col. Verner Monsanto, by lending one unit of Skyhydrant. An orientation on the use and maintenance of the unit was immediately conducted last June 8 and was attended by members of the NIMT.<\/p>\n

In the meeting together with Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) ARMM and Region 10 directors, Myrna J. Angot and Lisa Mazo, together with NIMT head. Col. Monsanto, they confirmed the need for this and were relieved and happy to have it in their custody. Department of Health (DOH) has committed to procure 1,000 geri cans for the families.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The potable water produced from this unit will cater to about 5 evacuation centers in Iligan city and three municipalities of Lanao del Sur: Balo-i, (3,506 families) Pantao-Ragat (1,268 families), and Pantar (854 families).<\/p>\n

The hydrant was already able to serve 126 families (with 519 individuals) seeking shelter at the Madrasah Markazi Evacuation Center in Balo-i, Lanao del Sur. DOH Asst. Regional Director Dr. Adriano Subaan and RCCC Health Cluster Head joined the team during the distribution and even first initiated drinking the water from the hydrant, whose source came from the nearby spring water<\/p>\n

I. NETWORKING<\/strong><\/p>\n

During this meeting, only two activated clusters (Health and Food and Non-Food items) reported their updates to the body.<\/p>\n

The Health cluster reported magnitude of event and conditions, issues, and concerns in the evacuation centers in Iligan city. \u00a0As shared, the top leading causes of illnesses recorded so far were as follows: Upper Respiratory Tract Infection (1), Dermatitis (2), Acute bronchitis (3), and Acute watery diarrhea (4). There\u2019s also the provision and\/or allocation of vaccination to the IDPs, such as the Tetanus Doxide (TD) and Measles (MR). They\u2019ve also provided micro-nutrient powders to kids.<\/p>\n
