Some 500 silver-colored tarps and 10 blue tents from Disaster Aid International (DAI) now serve as the temporary homes for the 3,500 lumads affected by the violent conflict. A skyhydrant has also been installed to provide safe drinking water especially for the children and the sick.<\/div>\n

The Surigao del Sur Sports Center in Tandag has been transformed into an evacuation center for these displaced lumads (indigenous peoples) since September 1, when three tribal leaders were brutally killed (another child died while in the evacuation center).<\/p>\n

This difficult situation may get worse if the issue is not properly and immediately addressed.<\/div>\n
