<\/b>Shelter Repair Kit Distribution in Sto. Rosario, Antequera<\/b><\/p>\n

Today, we distributed 120 shelter repair kits to one of our focus barangays, Sto. Rosario in the municipality of Antequera. The community themselves did their own weighing, counting, repacking and segregation of the materials that we distributed. Led by the Barangay Captain, it was a very orderly process that was participated by an array of community members \u2013 men, women and even the elderly and the children. It culminated in thanksgiving and prayers by the Barangay Captain Meliton Tulop, our dedicated volunteer Chris\u00a0 and Myrna of the VOICE Network. Erwin helped document the activity, while John Ray was able to mobilize the children to help clean up after the packing.<\/span><\/p>\n

Groundwork for setting up tent community in Loon<\/b><\/p>\n

Ed, Chris and Cliff have excellent news for us. Since one of the original identified tent community locations was deemed unsafe by the PHIVOLCS, the DAI team along with Bibing and Regine had a look at several other potential locations. After looking at locations which didn\u2019t seem promising, they found two big, open spaces very close to each other that were very good for tent communities.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, the lifeboxes have arrived at Manila and arrangements for transporting them to Bohol are underway. The host community was also very positive and welcoming to the team. As Ed excitedly said, \u201cwe\u2019re starting to visualize what\u2019s going to happen and it\u2019s just within reach.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Operations Center<\/b><\/p>\n

Our operations center here in Tagbilaran City headed by Ani and Bernard received 1,114 6L containers of water yesterday from Top Water in Cagayan de Oro. A recount will be done today to check this number. We have also released 20 food packs to Nilo of Sagbayan. We expect to extend help to more Balay Mindanaw family and friends in the coming days.<\/span><\/p>\n

Others<\/b><\/p>\n

We are currently doing groundwork and data gathering for the conduct of medical and psychosocial activities for our partner communities.<\/span><\/p>\n

We are also coordinating with a generous \u00a0group of private individuals in Manila represented by Nina Martinez who have offered a package of relief distribution, psychosocial activities and a dental mission for children.<\/span><\/p>\n

Plans for today<\/b><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Ed, Chris, Cliff, Bibing and Myrna will be going back to Loon for meetings and preparation for the setup of the tent community.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Ani, Regine and Bernard will be doing purchases for our remaining relief items today.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Lala, Erwin and John Ray will be going to Antequera to handover the shelter repair kits to the municipal LGU for distribution to 120 more households in Antequera.<\/p>\n
