 Balay Mindanaw’s DREAM Team is continuing to monitor our areas for ill effects of the tropical depression Agaton (which has since weakened into a low-pressure are). AGATON/LINGLING EMERGENCY RESPONSE UPDATE NO. 3

Today, we are continuing relief operations despite slowly subsiding of floods and water levels and decreased rainfall in areas we are monitoring. Considering that weather forecasts from multiple sources (including DOST PAG-ASA, Weather Underground and Weather.com.ph) still predict light to heavy rains in many areas of Mindanao for today, we are also alert for any changes. AGATON/LINGLING EMERGENCY RESPONSE UPDATE NO. 2

This afternoon, the Balay Mindanaw Emergency Response has been activated. As rains brought by Tropical Depression Agaton have been pouring over many parts of Mindanao on-and-off for more than a week, the threat of floods and landslides became very real. We have first reached out to our own staff, family and friends who live in low-lying communities in Cagayan de Oro by offering our Peace Center as an evacuation center.
