GLOBAL MINDANAW AGRI-VENTURES CORPORATION (GMAV)
The Company
The Global Mindanaw Agri-ventures Corporation (GMAV) is a start-up agribusiness corporation located at Gingoog City in the province of Misamis Oriental, Philippines. Formally started in 2016, GMAV provides appropriate innovations, value addition and better market of agricultural products produced by the rural communities in the province of Misamis Oriental. As of 2018, GMAV has a total asset of P 3,703,485 and it has ventured into broiler poultry production, cocosugar production, coffee processing, macapuno coconut production, tobacco production and logistics services. The company’s head office is located at Door 3, Balay Mindanaw Kalambuan Center, Brgy. 23, Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental.
Company’s Vision, Mission and Goal
GMAV is a business corporation established by the Balay Mindanaw Group. With this, the company also adopted the Balay Mindnaw Group’s vision of “Kaangayan, Kalambuan, Kalinaw… sa Mindanaw, sa Pilipinas ug Tibuok Kalibutan” (Equity, Development and Peace… in Mindanaw, the Philippines and the World). However, as an agribusiness corporation, GMAV’s mission is “Transforming Agribusiness, Helping Build Enterprising Communities.”
With such vision and mission, GMAV always look into the interdependent balance of responsibilities to its customers, its employees, its partner community of producers and its shareholders in order to came up with a brand that is of Good Quality and Enterprising Communities.
From 2016 to 2018, GMAV focused on the following goals:
1. Product Development: | To develop products on macapuno, coconut, broiler and coffee based commodities with higher market value and demand. |
2. Market Development: | To establish partnerships with institutional buyers of macapuno, cocosugar and coffee. |
3. Human Resource Development: | To build a core staff with integrity, leadership, commitment and competence to efficiently manage and operate its enterprises. |
4. Systems Development: | To develop and strengthen the efficient management systems of the corporation with clear target and performance parameters. |
5. Financial Development: | To have a net operating profit of P 10,000,000 at the end of 2018 and established agri-based enterprise with an ROI of 20%. |
Company’s Structure

At present, GMAV has Eight (8) Board of Directors chaired by the founder of the Balay Mindanaw Group, Mr. Charlito Z. Manlupig. The members of Board of Directors (BOD) are comprised mainly with expertise on social enterprise, rural development and micro-finance. The BOD sets the direction and policies of the company.
For the company’s
day-to-day operations, 35 personnel are involved headed by the President and
CEO of the company, Mr. Ariel C. Hernandez. These 35 personnel are divided into
four teams – 1) Admin-Finance-HR; (2) Broiler and Logistics Enterprise; (3)
Cocosugar Enterprise; (3) Minlagas Plantation. The figure below is the
organizational structure of GMAV as of July 2018.
GMAV’s Corporate Farm

GMAV has a 50 hectare Corporate Farm located at Sitio Minlagas, Brgy. San Luis, Gingoog City. The Corporate Farm is the production site of 1) Broiler Poultry; 2) Cocosugar; 3) Macapuno Coconuts and 4) Tobacco. The Corporate Farm also serves as a Farm School together with Global Mindnaw Polytechnic and an agri-tourism site.
As of October 2017, the Corporate Farm has the following facilities:
a. 10 hectare Macapuno Coconut Plantation
b. 2 Broiler Poultry House with 30,000 birds per cycle
c. 25 hectare Tobacco Plantation
d. 15 hectare Coconut Farm
e. Coco sugar Processing Plant
The Corporate Farm is a joint venture between the Global Mindanaw Agri-ventures Corporation, various land owners and small farmers in the area.
Partnership Model
Aside from GMAV’s corporate farm, majority of its products were sustainably sourced from small farmers. For economies of scale, farmer producers were clustered into a production unit which are called community of producers.
The enterprises under GMAV are operated with a business partnership model together with its partner institution: (1) Bangko sa Balay Foundation Inc. (BBFI) for micro-financing; (2) Global Mindanaw Polytechnic Inc. (GMPI) for technical training and capacity building; (3) Katlingbanong Pamanhandi sa Mindanaw Foundation Inc. (KPMFI) for community organizing and participatory development. The figure below is the business model of GMAV.
