UPDATES: TEAM PANAY (November 16, 2013)
Advance Duo/Preparatory/Logistics Committee
COMPOSITION
– Eileen Ipulan-Bautista
– Maritess M. Puspus
PRELIMINARIES
– Ii and Tess arrived safely Ilo-ilo @ 2:40pm. The two immediately communicated with the VOICE Network partner Ms. Ma. Theresa “Maita” Magalo, head of the Disaster Management Community of Reconciliation (DM-CoR) group, in Barrio Obrero, Ilo-ilo City.
– Ms. Magalo sent her staff and volunteers to facilitate, assist & help in the tasks of the Logistics committee in preparation of relief operation in Roxas, Capiz.
ACTIVITIES OF THE DAY
a. Identification of Repacking Station – Repacking of goods will be done at the house of one of the volunteers. They initially suggested to conduct the repacking of goods at the Our Lady of Assumption Parish, but considering that it is Sunday tomorrow, we decided to do it in the house of a volunteer who is at the same time a member of DM CoR Group.
b. Purchasing – We were able to purchase all the rice needed. It will be delivered tomorrow by the rice wholesaler. Many of the stores (especially those into wholesale) were already closed when we arrived. Others did not have the quantity that we needed. But after realizing that most of the stores do not have everything that we need, we decided to purchase the goods in different stores. However, we still were not able to complete the contents for the food pack.
c. Food pack contents:
- RICE – 5 kilos
- Water – 2 bottles of 1liter
- Tuna – 2 cans
- Sardines – 5 cans
- Meatloaf – 2 cans
d. Volunteer mobilization – DM-CoR Group will mobilize at least 20 volunteers for packing/repacking of good
WHAT TO EXPECT FOR TOMORROW
o Additional purchase of remaining goods needed
o Repacking goods for 1000 families and we expect to finish the packing within the day
Others:
– We have initially made contacts for possible van rental for within and outside the city
– DM CoR Group also has contacts for truck rental to bring the goods to Capiz
– We have also kept in touch with the military here for the possibility of maximizing their vehicles to bring the goods to capiz. We will wait for further advise on this.
That is all for now!
Salamat!
Ii and Tess
