When Typhoon Sendong swept many houses and killed many lives in Cagayan de Oro, Balay Mindanaw immediately sprang into action in the relief and rehabilitation efforts, even if some of its very own people were victims themselves. Balay Mindanaw became part of the various NGOs and relief agencies helping Sendong survivors. To organize things, these organizations helping out decided to assign which agency goes to what relocation sites. We were assigned to Bulua, Bonbon, Kauswagan, Iponan and Bara (in Opol). Assigned from these barangays, we opted to adopt the Indahag relocation site, too. This morning, on our 16th anniversary, we went out under the sun to help build homes.
