They understand their needs, put courage in their hearts and minds amid the impact of the disaster, they smile and say thank you for the assistance given to them. A short farewell program was presented and led by Pastor Kai Gusek of the MERT.<\/li>\n<li>In Barangay San Juan, the community now plans to rebuild their health center so that the medical assistance will be a continuing effort of local and international health and social workers<\/li>\n<li>As these first activities of assistance concluded after 7 days of operation, the team is now planning to mobilize shelter repair kits for distribution as local residents are ready and more than willing to restore their homes and community. They have expressed immediate rehabilitation of their houses for security, better protection from the heat of the day and coldness during the night, for safer and sounder temporary dwelling.<\/li>\n<li>The team was also offered in Barangay San Juan an old and abandoned rice warehouse to make use of this as an operation center in the meantime. A quick repair will likewise be done. Cordero of the Municipality of Estancia. This northern stretch of Iloilo has been seriously hit by Supertyphoon Yolanda last Nov 8. As per assessment of the team, 99% of the households were damaged (9,254 HH). The oil spill of a barge also made bigger danger to the fishing communities, which until now there is no move of clearing it, not even the owner National Power Corporation.<\/li>\n<li>Aside from food, shelter repair kits (preferably nipa and bamboo) are equally needed in all the 24 barangays. The team is now scouting for possible sources of nipa and bamboo.<\/li>\n<li>Since there are coastal communities mostly not being reached by relief, the fisherfolks need to restore their livelihood soon, they said, so that they will not be dependent on the unguaranteed delivery food relief. And so, they needed fishing boats also including fishing gears and equipments.<\/li>\n<li>The team is also in close coordination with the Fr. Macky Sortido, Parish Priest of Estancia who link them to two of the barangays in Estancia (Brgy. Manipolon and Brgy. Bayas).They will also meet the LGU Council, other NGOs and some local and international responders on Monday, 25 Nov, for updating and effective collaboration of interventions.<\/li>\n<li>The team has established an operation center in Jaro, Iloilo.
