(KPMFI) is registered with Securities and\nExchange Commission (SEC) on October 17, 2006 and recognized non-government\norganization (NGO) based in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental, Philippines. KPMFI\nis an institution that has been conceptualized by the leadership of Balay\nMindanaw Foundation, Inc. (BMFI) after seeing the need for an institution that\nwill focus on social enterprises. It is also considered as one of the\ninnovations of BMFI\u2019s area based development work for the last 12 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The formation of KPMFI\nare anchored to the following context:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It is an\nintegral part of BMFI\u2019s SIAD work as realized when implemented the SIAD\nProgram;<\/li><li>Putting\nvalue from the existing initiatives (SIAD-COCOBREAD);<\/li><li>Taking-off\nfrom the strength of the livelihood projects of the partner communities in the\nlast six (6) years (i.e community production, processing and marketing, etc.);\nand<\/li><li>How to\nensure that \u201csmall victories and gains\u201d achieved by the partner People\nOrganizations (POs) and partner barangay and local government units will be\nprotected and enhanced to grow stronger as the vehicle towards development and\nbecome a foundation for building sustainable peace in the partner communities.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>KPMFI\nis a member of Balay Mindanaw Group of NGOs since 2006. The\ncapacity of KPMFI has transcended towards skills directed at multiple facets of\nsocial entrepreneurship. It has created different units for the implementation\nof specific social entrepreneurial skills namely, Partnership Building,\nCommunity Driven Enterprise Development (CDED\/LED), and Social Enterprise Franchising\nUnit. It has been the leading organization in innovation and leadership of\ncommunity service such as community social enterprise, business model\ndevelopment and establishment of Play for Peace and its membership with PhilSEN\nnetworks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below\nare significant accomplishments for the past years:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Monitored the progress of its own work and that\nof its partners for purposes of learning, as well as achievement;<\/li><li>Recognized\nthe necessity and opportunity for leadership development at both community and staff\nlevels;<\/li><li>Community-based\nwork with MLGU, PLGU and Peace Building;<\/li><li>Capacity\nBuilding programs for partner POs and LGUs on sustainable enterprises;<\/li><li>Engaged into\nmarket development and linkages both for mainstream and niche markets;<\/li><li>Business\nDevelopment Service to communities and partners institutions; and <\/li><li>Invested on Research and Development Projects\nin the region.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Program\nContext and Situation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nstrategic period of three years will be marked by many significant transitions\nand developments in the society, government and economy of Mindanao,\nPhilippines. Because of the pace of change, KPMFI strategic scanning will be\nupdated every six (6) months. An annual review will be conducted on assessing\nthe performance deliverables. In September 2016, it has identified four (4)\nmajor program factors that would affect the strategic direction of the\norganization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Renewed efforts in the peace process, community consultation in\nrelation to GPH-CPP NPA, MILF and other armed group Peace Agreement;<\/li><li>Peace with Communists (Peace consultations at the regional level i.e.\nin Davao region, Caraga, &nbsp;Region X and\nARMM);<\/li><li>Even in the best-case scenarios, \u201cpeace dividend\u201d will arrive\nslowly for poor and marginalized women and men, especially those living in conflict-affected\nareas, and they will be reliant on non-government service providers for at\nleast the period of this strategy.<\/li><li>Focus on social enterprise in all areas focused by Balay Mindanaw\nGroup of NGOs. KPMFI will enter when the community social preparation has been\nestablished or has formed group ready to engage into social enterprise.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Impacting\non these factors has identified trends and event for the strategic period will\nbe significant in the program environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The 10-pooint priority agenda of the new\nadministration focus on war on drugs, corruption, poverty, etc.;<\/li><li>The impact of increasing investment flows on the\npeople and natural resources in program areas;<\/li><li>The on-going destruction of natural environments\nin particular the impacts of changing climate;<\/li><li>The growing importance of regional actors and\nfactors for the development of Mindanao;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>KPMFI\nhas introduced two significant changes in its work;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>KPMFI has moved towards a more strategic, partner focused approach.<\/li><li>KMPFI has made a strategic decision to concentrate its activities in areas where BMFI is working in Mindanao.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Program Area\/Location:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KPMFI has a total of 126 barangays,11 municipalities and 7 provinces are covered in the program areas in Mindanao. KPMFI will focus its development work in 6 strategic sites namely Bukidnon, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Basilan, Misamis Oriental, North Cotabato and Surigao del Sur. At the same time, KPMFI will work in areas affected by natural and man-made disaster based on the selection criteria identified in the humanitarian strategy of Balay Mindanaw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Program\nScope and Scale: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In\nthe duration of three (3) year period from 2017 to 2020, KPMFI will continue to\nfocus its development work in 6 major provinces in Mindanao with an annual\nprogram budget of PhP50 million or USD One million dollars. KPMFI will be\nequipped with highly skilled 10 9Ten) staff largely based in Cagayan de Oro and\nGingoog City (other areas will be channeled thru BMFI field offices).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the\nspan of three (3) year period, KPMFI will improve its program and services on\nlocal enterprise development to transform enterprising poor households to\nbecome resilient entrepreneurs. It will also increase its learning capacity and\nbuild capacity on entrepreneurship to potential individual business-oriented\nleaders and improve model of engagement on social enterprise franchising in\ntarget areas.
