We refuse to be victims. We are
resources
We are now on our 6th day of trying to
be resources for others.
While support from different local and
international organizations and individuals continue to pour in for
the victim families, the number of volunteers has also increased to
help Balay Mindanaw in the re-packing and distribution of relief
goods to the evacuation centers in the five barangays (villages).
Five PARFUND staff (a national NGO
partner), 20 student volunteers from the Tagoloan School of
Technology, Lawig Kalinaw Peacebuilders, Balay Mindanaw friends, and
even children of Balay Mindanaw staff, have generously offered their
services as their way of helping the victims of Typhoon Sendong.
Yesterday, Balay Mindanaw also
assisted the team of doctors and nurses from General Santos City
together with staff from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction
Management Council (PDRRMC) of Sarangani Province in their medical
mission in Barangays Macasandig and Canitoan. The team conducted
feeding for 500 individuals while Balay Mindanaw gave out additional
41 packs of food items (containing rice, sardines, noodles and
biscuits) and 45 packs of non-food items (containing kitchen
utensils and clothing) in Brgy. Canitoan. The additional food and
non-food items are donations from See Joo Won, MSU-IIT and Zamboanga
Marines which also came in yesterday.
Today, we will serve at least 250
families with food and water packages.
To date, the following have been
received by the BM Relief Operations Center:
Cash Donations (Cash, Cheques, Bank
Deposits):
Pesos: P288,550.00
Dollars: USD383.50 (P16,490.50)
Pledges:
Specified Amounts:

Euros: 5,200 Euros
The many messages of support and the
concrete actions of solidarity from all over the globe continue to
strengthen and inspire us.
Thank you very much…
